“Cover Me Sundays”-Blame It On The Boogie

This was originally posted on July 18, 2010 but I thought it would be quite appropriate to run again in celebration of our Artist of the Month!

I took a few Sundays off from posting but had to come back this week with this one! Special shout to Jamal Ahmad via Alton Allen for putting us on to this cover that many including myself did not know was cover because it is so closely identified with The Jacksons. Check out Mick Jackson’s performance and then the interview on how the song became part of The Jackson legacy on this side of the Atlantic.

As I’ve said countless times a great song is a great song and lends itself to numerous covers. What is being created in 2010 that’s coverable if you have any thought or suggestions please post a comment.

A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music(Jazz Studies Emphasis) with a minor in African American Studies.
