Do you remember the first time you heard a brand new artist, and the music was so good that it just gave you pause? Daley is giving me that vibe. I excitedly await his future releases. You can download Daleys mixtape for free at his official website, and you can follow Daley on Twitter.

Official Video: Eric Roberson: “At The Same Time”

Friday, April 20th, 2012

Check out the new video “At The Same Time”, by Eric Roberson, a song about a lost love. Read what Eric has to say about the song: “I’m elated about transitioning to this part of the album. I feel everyone who hears this, will be able to identify with it. We’ve all experienced being in and being loved but sometimes not at the same time.”

“At The Same Time” is lifted from Roberson’s latest album Mister Nice Guy, released via Purpose Music Group and Entertainment One (eOne Music) and available for download on iTunes.

Official Video: Elle Varner: “Refill”

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

There was a bit of discussion about this track ’round the GFM headquarters about the production heaviness of this track with that fiddle loop and all, and the way Elle Varner sings the hook, but there’s some good stuff to be found here. The lyrics are metaphoric and imaginative. Elle is completely dressed and the video actually tells a story and keeps the viewer engaged. Enjoy.

Loe Pesci – “DMT With Joe Rogan” (Produced by MoonBoots) (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

“Time is infinate but never waits.” Powerful. One of the many lines that MC Loe Pesci uses to grab the ears of listeners in the first single off of his album GOODX2, released on 2-16-12. Half of the hip hop duo OG Hindu Kush, Pesci represents Montreal and is ready for transition. “DMT with Joe Rogan” is a sweet mix of grind and hip hop laid over a grimey beat.

Pesci is known for his success as a battle MC on King of the Dot, a premier battle league for all of North America, but the transition from battle rapper to track layer is usually a long and difficult process for most. Pesci places a strong foot forward with his new album and single. Listen and download a digital copy here ( http://oghindukush.bandcamp.com/album/good-x-2 ) And as an artist himself, Loe went the extra mile and commissioned original artwork by a different artist for each track on the album. But for now check the video for “DMT with Joe Rogan” below, an interesting contrast of how truly complex simplicity can be.

Official Video: Toni Braxton: “I Heart You”

Friday, March 30th, 2012

I get where Toni Braxton was trying to go with this tune. It’s a melodic, love song that kicks into overdrive and becomes a dance jam, but perhaps this version would have been better as the remix, because that’s what it sounds like to me. Maybe it’s because Toni is known as a songstress and we love her for her ballads–that I wanted to hear the ballad first and then the dance remix. And maybe that’s why she went in this direction instead… I expected a ballad and she wanted to do the unexpected.

As for the video; Billie Woodruff has produced several videos for Toni Braxton in the past like “Un-Break My Heart” and “You’re Makin’ Me High”, but this video doesn’t seem to look as good or as cohesive as others they’ve done together. But, Toni is as gorgeous as ever and the fact that she took this independent step with her music instead of waiting for some dude in a suit to approve of her creative vision is admirable and grown.
