Tuesday, October 30th, 2012

If you’re like me and have a thing for funk with a touch of chili sauce, you will definitely like this right here! Here is the new single from acclaimed bass player Ethan Farmer called “Watch” from his upcoming album “Wine & Strings”. In case you’re scratching your head and wondering where you’ve heard “E-Bassman’s” nasty groove, he has worked with Patti Labelle, Babyface, Keri Hilson, Christina Aguilera and the queen of nasty, Janet Jackson. Tell us how you feelin’ this joint!

New Music Video: Krissy Krissy: “Suspicious”

Thursday, October 4th, 2012

Check out the new video for “Suspicious”, the second single from Krissy Krissy’s debut EP Above All.

The song “Suspicious” is about having suspicions about your lover cheating on you, about having that feeling you can’t quite put your finger on, but you know it’s happening. “Suspicious is a song based off of real life events,” explains Krissy. “Ever been in a relationship where you know for a fact that your lover is cheating on you? All the signs are there and you finally realize what’s going on! I have. The record has a positive sound to it because, although getting cheated on sucks, the revenge is a bit sweeter!”

Watch and let us know what you think.

New Music Video: Elle Varner: “I Don’t Care”

Friday, September 21st, 2012

Check out the video for Elle Varner’s ’90s-vibe jam, “I Don’t Care”. Reminiscent of Alicia Keys’ “Unthinkable” video, it portrays young couples that are helplessly in love while battling various forms of discrimination.

New Music: Legaci: “Never Got Over You”

Sunday, September 2nd, 2012

“Never Got Over You” is the new single and video from Legaci. The singing is impressive but the song is underwhelming.  All the ingredients (decent lyrics and great vocals) to make a song good are there, but it still doesn’t stand out and a good song is as important as the talent. The good news is they ARE talented and hopefully there is much more to come. It might have been nice to see Legaci record and release one of the covers they do so well as their introduction to the world.  Check out Legaci’s YouTube channel to hear them interpret some R&B classic hits as well as current pop songs, and an extra special treat is the group’s stellar tribute to Whitney Houston. Check it out along with “Never Got Over You” below.

New Music: Elle Varner: “I Don’t Care”

Monday, August 13th, 2012

Diggin’ this one… While Elle Varner’s voice is an acquired taste at times, like in the case of “Refill”, she’s doing her thing on “I Don’t Care”. But the part that is attention grabbing is the late ’80s/early ’90s feel to the music on track that makes me want to check the liner notes to see if Al B. Sure! and Kyle West had anything to do with the production. Well done–this song is a bridge for the “Grown Folks” to walk over and discover this young artist.

Tess Henley’s New Video: “Daydreaming”

Friday, August 10th, 2012

New artist, Tess Henley brings a wishful vibe with her new single “Daydreaming”. Lighthearted in groove, this song carries the feeling of having your head in the clouds while longing for that special muse. With a reflective honesty in her voice, Tess creates a warm charm that attracts you to her talent.

If you don’t believe me, take a listen for yourself then buy it when you find out I’m right! ;)
