Backstage & Concert Pics from Eric Roberson’s “Mister Nice Guy” Tour with Algebra Blessett!

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

GFM had the wonderful opportunity of not just covering Eric Roberson’s “Mister Nice Guy” tour in Atlanta but a bit of the backstage action as well. From the warm up vocals backstage, pairing the perfect suit for sartorial elegance and giving the final note of the night, we were there for it all. The show was full of major highlights like the vocal and physical acrobatic performance of the Atlanta songstress, Algebra Blessett along with special surprise appearances by Anthony David and Rhonda Thomas. Also a big shout out for Ms. Avery Sunshine and V-103 radio personality Terry Bello for being in the house as well. Check out some of our pictorial footage before and during the show. (more…)

Song of the Day- Eric Roberson feat. Phonte “Been In Love”

Monday, May 7th, 2012

“Been in Love” expresses the regret that many have felt when they decide to take friendship to the next level, and the relationship doesn’t quite work out as expected. Erro’s regrets + Phonte’s flow deliver a solid, mid-tempo jam. “Been in Love” is part of the release “Left”. You can pick up “Left” on Amazon.com.

Enjoy these jams that are good on their own, but share their name with another song that has a different tune and sometimes a different musical genre.

“Borrow You” is a cute, fun song for the dance floor. Erro is sure to let us know that he just wants to have a little platonic fun as long as the dj is spinning. Enjoy

“Borrow You” is from the release “Music Fan First”. “Music Fan First” may be purchased at Amazon.com.

Video: Robin Thicke Covers “Sexual Healing”

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

OK ladies, try to contain yourselves.

Robin Thicke, your favorite purveyor of blue-eyed soul, took to the stage at Chicago’s Paris Club last week for the official launch of the 2012 Songwriter’s Music Series presented by the VH1 Save the Music Foundation. The largely-female crowd was treated to a nearly pitch-perfect rendition of Marvin Gaye‘s timeless “Sexual Healing,” with Thicke intimately engaging the intimate crowd, most of whom probably wanted to get intimate with him (if the coos and catcalls were any indication, that is).

The event was a benefit for the Save the Music Foundation, which is dedicated to fostering and preserving music education for America’s children. There will be two more Songwriter’s Music Series events this year, with the next one planned for June in New York and the final one slated for September in Napa Valley, California.

For more info or to see how you can get involved, visit VH1SaveTheMusic.com.

Song of the Day: Eric Roberson: “The Moon”

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012

This song is a ’90s masterpiece. It’s so quintessential ’90s you could pick it out of a line up. From the New Jack production of the track, to the complimentary female vocals to the prowess and swagger with which Eric sings the track. It’s a very different Erro than we’re used to today, but he is going in. All the way in– displaying the mad vocals he’s working with. This track hints at the MAJOR contender he would have been among male R&B vocalists in that era if his album had been released. If you like a good ’90s slow jam, then this is for you. “The Moon” by Eric Roberson in 1994.
