Check out the video for “Why?” by Mary J. Blige. Now those of us who aren’t so excited about some of today’s rappers could ask “Why?” Rick Ross is on this track, but then Mary J. Blige ain’t called the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul for nothing. She’s always represented the combination of Hip-Hop and R&B. She sang hooks for the rappers and they in turn dropped hot bars on her tracks, so ”Why?” is true to the MJB formula. Rick Ross may not blaze up the track the way that maybe Nas did back in the day, but this song is a classic MJB poem sung from the heart.
